The Farmer
My name is Khaiti and I am a farmer…wheew. I said it!

2009 was a big leap for me in terms of making my dreams and plans come true. As I progress into the 2010 season, I continue to manifest my dream life. I have my beautiful animals and wonderful customers to thank.
I started out with the homesteading dream. As a little girl, I grew up in South Dakota. My mom had a couple goats for milk and meat, butchered her own chickens, made cheese, gardened and canned vegetables like a true homesteader. She passed away in 2007, but she is always with me in my heart – as I tend to the animals, work on a new batch of cheese in the kitchen, or just weed in the garden. She was so proud of what I was doing and loved it out here.
As I figured out my “career” direction, I was blessed with some wonderful jobs working at co-ops in the Twin Cities for the past ten years. It was through the co-ops that my love for the farmers I dealt with blossomed. My admiration for all they do, and how they care for their animals, and make (just barely) a living doing it truly inspired me. The thing is that they had a quality of life I remembered from my mom’s dream life, and now desired for myself. Money is not my main desire, the lifestyle is what I pursue. Eating very well, close to the source, and facilitating that for others. I want to be your farmer!
On my farm in 2009 I hosted several workshops for meat harvesting, which was a big deal for me. I was a vegan for over 6 years, a vegetarian for 14. It has been a very important thing for me to be able to change the things about animal agriculture that I did not want to support. Animals can be raised humanely, cared for lovingly, and their lives respected with the intention of enjoying them on your plate. As I learned to process my own animals with some amazing friends and fantastic customers, I have found a full circle component to what I am doing here. This feels so incredible. I hope you can join me!

way to go khaiti!! im so proud of you.
Wow Khaiti, what a long way you have come. I am so proud of you! Love you
Hi Khaiti,What you are doing is just how I think a person a human should live! My family, wife and two sons, are in the process of switching to that lifesyle of living more off the land and self-suffiency. It is nice to see people like yourself seeing what really is important in life! Keep up the good work and my oldest son is very interested in the soap-making class.
Right on Craig! Thanks for the positive feedback, and best of luck to you guys! Keep me posted!
